- About Me:
- I help build, maintain, update, some design, and manage the social media aspects of our Home & Design and Home Improvement Websites for Network Communications, Inc. I started as a television camera person and photographer and moved into reporting and journalism for print. In the '80s I ran a BBS off my Atari computer called The Cathouse and met people from all over the world. I went from print to online with Cox when they began developing AJC.com, AccessAtlanta.com and their other online properties. I worked on one called yall.com. From there I've been to California and back working for various online media companies. I'm so happy to see social media making a full swing back to being what the Internet started off being - a place for conversations, interactivity and connections. As a hobby, I work with Joomla and WordPress and have built several sites for friends and hobbies such as danradcliffe.co.uk (a site that brings in half a million and more page views a month (on a free CMS!)) and a little humor site just starting called potterparodies.com (yeah, I'm a Harry Potter nut!).

SoCon History
Jeff Haynie, Sherry Heyl and Leonard Witt launched SoCon07, in February, 2007; then came back with SoCon08 in February, 2008 with the able help of Barbara Vining and Timothy Moenk. Some 275 people registered for Socon08, so, of course, SoCon09 is already being planned.

I haven't worked with Charlie James, before.
I would love to get together sometime. Anyone in this field definitely knows and understands the challenges we have in melding print and online together. What part of town are you in?
I don't think we met at SoCon08. Do you work with Charlie James at all? I interviewed him in TechLINKS a while back when he was still at Lodgian.
I might like to connect with you at some point to share ideas - since I think we are tackling some of the same issues and challenges at our respective organizations. Let me know if you're interested in getting together.
