Located in Lawrenceville, GA, a suburb of Atlanta, Network Communications, Inc. (www.nci.com) is the largest national publisher of local printed and online magazines for the real estate market. We distribute more than 13 million magazines each month, representing more than 650 markets in the U.S. and Canada. In addition, NCI distributes its content through a world-class proprietary online network of more than 18 websites serving millions of consumers searching for a home or apartment.
NCI is seeking Web Developer 2.0 with WordPress experience. This position will be responsible for Full Life Cycle Development building web applications. It will work collaboratively with team and management on designing and developing new products and maintaining existing products. It will create documentation and peform ad hoc duties as assigned.

Experience and Skills
* Excellent skill with PHP as an object-oriented language
* Understanding of creating AJAX-styled applications with PHP
* Ability to interface with existing APIs & PlugIns (i.e. WordPress, WordPress MU, Google Maps, Twitter API, DIGG API)
* Experience in LAMP Technologies: Strong working knowledge of WordPress & WordPress MU, especially themes and plugins
* CSS skills and transposing screens to web to the exact pixel, is a skill the ideal candidate will need to have
* Working knowledge of XML
* Strong knowledge of SQL Language, either MySQL &/or SQL Server
* Experience with optimizing performance using Apache configuration, Memcached
* Practical experience with SVN or CVS
* At least 3 years of related experience with mentioned web applications and technologies
* Strong Understand of UI
* Working Experience with companies that have advertising-based revenue models is a plus
* Working Experience utilizing the collaborative SharePoint environment is a plus
* Degree in Computer Science or related field, and/or equivalent work experience

About
SoCon History
Jeff Haynie, Sherry Heyl and Leonard Witt launched SoCon07, in February, 2007; then came back with SoCon08 in February, 2008 with the able help of Barbara Vining and Timothy Moenk. Some 275 people registered for Socon08, so, of course, SoCon09 is already being planned.
